was asked by the Board of Directors to quickly provide an independent assessment of the company's opportunities in three areas and assist the company in focusing on one area an implement one strategy. The following three-step analytical framework was used to conduct the assessment:

Internal management perspective — interviewed key managers in general management, product development and marketing to understand their perspectives on the company and their view of the opportunities in the three market areas. We also analyzed existing financial plans and technology roadmaps for each product area.
External view of opportunities — We developed an external perspective on the three product areas by combining our own information and analysis with secondary research and discussions with industry experts. We concentrated on addressing market size, market life cycles, industry dynamics and competition each area.
Synthesis and definition of business direction — We then synthesized the internal and external perspective into an overall assessment of each business opportunity and provide recommendations for the company's future business direction.
